Totally Legit Launches Hawke’s Bay’s First Collectible Card Game to Boost Local Commerce

Napier, NZ — In a move that’s equal parts business genius and “wait, what?”, Hawke’s Bay entrepreneur Cheyenne Blackburn has officially launched Totally Legit — a networking-meets-card-collecting social experiment that’s already shaking up how locals connect with small businesses.

The project, which started as a tongue-in-cheek networking event, has now evolved into a full-scale collectible card game. Fifty-two unique cards are hidden across participating Hawke’s Bay businesses, each one only earnable through a real-world trade — a purchase, a post, or a review.

“This isn’t Monopoly money,” Blackburn says. “You actually have to visit the businesses and do something legit. No tag-ins, no runners. Just old-school human interaction.”

With a map of locations now live on the Totally Legit website, players can begin tracking down the cards in hopes of assembling a full deck. Those who do are eligible for real rewards yet to be announced.

The game is part community-building initiative, part business support strategy, and part chaotic fun. “Honestly,” Blackburn adds, “we’re just trying to get people off their a$$ and back into the local hoods — one card at a time.”

Over 40 businesses are already on board, from cafes and boutiques to tech. With a cheeky tone, strong design sensibility, and an IRL-meets-URL approach to networking, Totally Legit is shaping up to be more than just a gimmick. It might just be the future of community engagement — disguised as a game.
